a mere 430hp and 460tq for INSURANCE purposes and to discourage average street buyers.
The ZL-1 option was available
from Chevrolet in 1969 for $3000 and included the L-88 ALUMINUM engine along with a beefed
up suspension, side exhaust, and a special hood.

1969 Corvette Specifications
Total Production = 38,762 (22,129 Coupe,
16,633 Convertible)
An extended production year yielded an unusually high build quantity. The '69 Corvette
was visually identical to the 1968 model, with the exception of the "Stingray"
(now one word) emblem over the side "gill" vents and the 350 replaced the 327
small block engine.
FIBERGLASS FACT: The rarest factory built engine of all time
came with the $4,718 ZL1 option which included an all aluminum 427 L88 (only two 1969 ZL1's were ever sold and Roger's Corvettes has one
of them!).
